Futures AHEAD is an academic enrichment program designed to provide our students with opportunities to develop 21st century skills, explore career and educational options, and cultivate academic aspirations and accountability.
Four components of Futures AHEAD:
Monthly meetings will include concrete ways to improve students’ performance through skill development through practice, continual growth of positive self-esteem, increased awareness of personal strengths and interests through targeted learning opportunities, and introduction of varied and possible careers alongside local corporate volunteers.
Enrichment camps, held 3-4 times a year at local corporate or educational sites, focus on themed curriculum designed to engage a student during the challenging middle school years. Curriculum includes 21st century skill development in areas, such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and team-building. Students solve real-world problems with guidance from industry professionals while learning about varied career opportunities and engaging advanced technology.
College and Career Expo
The Annual Expo boasts over 40 college representatives and 20 career representatives along with varied workshops and activities for Grades 7-8 students. Held at a local college campus, students participate in team-building activities, technology workshops, and a campus tour scavenger hunt!
Futures AHEAD will engage the family unit through a variety of communications focused on sharing valuable information about activities and generating conversation about the future. Once the family is more familiar with Chester County Futures, students become more engaged.
Students from Phoenixville, Kennett, Coatesville and Oxford Area middle schools are part of the Futures AHEAD program.
