Steps 4 Success
First College Prep Boot Camp hosted by SAP
Steps 4 Success works closely with college-level students who graduate from the Passport to College program and matriculate to post-secondary education.
Supports include academic, professional, and social guidance as students navigate the unfamiliar college landscape.
Scholarships funds for post-secondary students are a critical component for college completion – students are eligible to receive up to $6,000 over four years.
Programming workshops are delivered at the annual College Prep Boot Camp. Our inaugural boot camp was held on August 8, 2016 at SAP America Headquarters in Newtown Square, PA. Students were split into three groups depending on their respective campus size: large campus, medium campus, commuter/small campus. Topics included time management, self-advocacy, financial literacy and personal budgeting. 33 (of 36) students from the high school class of 2016 attended the boot camp. In addition, other Futures college level students volunteered at the Boot Camp to lead groups, discussions, and be a resource for rising college freshman.
Students also joined Futures social media group on Facebook in order to allow for open and easy communication among peers and our program staff members. The Facebook group currently has 71 members from the Classes of 2014, 2015, and 2016.
This program was designed and piloted with the help of SAP Social Sabbatical employees. Chester County Futures, a selected partner, has three SAP professionals who dedicated their time and expertise to help Chester County Futures design, create, and launch this critically needed program.
