HATS OFF TO DAVID ROSENBERG, ESQ.
A man with a head for business.
A family man with wife & kids.
A guy with a heart so big he couldn’t say no
to a boy who needed an older, wiser friend.
It
was the year 2000 when a young teen named Aaron met a man who
would change his life forever. A man who would be there for him.
Someone to turn to for sage advice. For words of encouragement.
For guidance when the road through life turned rocky.
The man Aaron met that year was Villanova resident and attorney,
David Rosenberg. That’s the year Rosenberg signed on as
a Chester County Futures mentor. He stood tall beside young Aaron
as the teen worked his way through high school. He applauded
long and well when Aaron bounded to the stage to accept the high
school diploma he so richly deserved. And in summer 2005 he was
Aaron’s number one fan as the teen-turned-man joyfully
stretched out his hand and firmly grasped his hard won college
degree.
Rosenberg well remembers that in the early going, he sometimes
wondered how this student he had taken under his wing would ever
manage to get through college. A college degree for Aaron was “a
feat I would have considered unattainable four years ago,” he
recalls thinking.
Indeed, there were many impediments blocking Aaron’s path.
But on the plus side, he was a bright and determined high school
student. And he had himself a mentor – and a fine one Rosenberg
turned out to be. Despite his busy life as husband, as father,
and as a Principal with Marsh Creek Corporate Services in Exton,
Rosenberg set aside time for Aaron.
Even as he recalled his moments of doubt, Rosenberg never wavered,
supplying Aaron with a sheltering arm and sound words of advice.
Like other CCF mentors, he says that he got back much more than
he gave, by far.
“My experiences as a mentor have been more than I could
have imagined,” says Rosenberg. “Mentoring makes
a difference.” His advice to others considering becoming
a mentor: “Get involved!
“Chester County Futures makes a difference in the lives
of disadvantaged youths,” he says. “I have rarely
been associated with a group of committed individuals who take
their charge so seriously and continuously rise to the occasion
to assist those in need!”
